Nonsense
Meet My Gremlin
So… if you’re a regular reader of my blog, you’ll no doubt be wondering why the name change. If you’re new to all of this, then what’s with the Gremlin behind a movie camera.
Well, years and years ago when I first started blogging, I chose the name Kinnema (a contraction of my surname - Kinnear - and ‘cinema’) but the logo ended up being called Kinnema.com, something I never really liked but got stuck with.
When I joined Twitter, I wanted to doff the cap to the blog but by then I’d gone off the whole Kinnema thing…so I compromised on Kinnemaniac. Turns out, two years on, I still like that compromise!
While publicising a feature I’d written for Total Film about Gremlins, I changed my avatar to the fella with the popcorn above…and that stuck, too. Seemed to go with the whole ‘maniac’ bit of the name.
Long story short, I’ve finally got around to ditching kinnema.com (a stupid name, as my URL hasn’t been a dotcom address for years anyway!) and rechristening the blog to match my Twitter identity.
So it seemed apt to play mischief with my original logo man (Godard cinematographer Raoul Coutard) by superimposing my Gremlin head on top.
So, Godard meets Gremlins. Actually, that’s not a bad description of the blog.
