The Gravity of the Situation

Oh, for fuck’s sake.

Last month I had a big old moan about the insanity of announcing every last casting decision on Alfonso Cuaron’s Gravity, arguing that – by making this merry-go-round of rumours public – there was a real danger of cheapening the project.

Apparently, Natalie Portman feels the same way, as she’s now bailed on Cuaron as well.  With no credible actresses left unlinked with the film, the latest hunch is that the role is being offered to Sandra Bullock.

Karl Marx once suggested that history was doomed to repeat itself, first as tragedy, then as farce.  He’d have had a field day blogging about Hollywood casting hype.

It can only be a matter of time before Henry Cavill’s name gets linked to the project, and then Cuaron really will be fucked.

Was Karl Marx the one with the hooter or the one with the moustache and cigar?

Quoting 'The Eighteenth Brumaire' to illustrate a point about the casting of a sci-fi movie. This is my kind of blog.
